Thursday evening around 5 my roommates and I loaded up my car
and set off for spring break in PCB Florida.
It’s about 1300 miles straight
south, driving for about 21 hours.
We began the journey all set and ready to
go, blasting the music
busting into our road trip snacks before we had barely
merged onto 35W.
Things were going well until sometime in Iowa we heard a weird
beep and a light turned on,
on my dashboard. I directed Hallie, my co pilot, to
look up in the book what that symbol meant.
She turns to a random page and nonchalantly
states that the brakes are out.
uhhh..WHAT?!
We pulled over and start to freak out a
bit.
I asked to see the book and realized she has the wrong symbol -__- all we
really needed
was to add a little more air to the tires. After a little pump up
we were back on the road.
I drove for ten hours straight and then needed a
break in St. Louis.
We switched up drivers and copilots and Hallie and I set
out to rest for the next three hours.
We awoke around six a.m. Friday, in Kentucky, got
breakfast and switched drivers again.
I took the wheel once again and finished
out the haul to Florida.
We stopped in Birmingham, Alabama for lunch. Alabama
was my favorite state to drive through because the scenery was absolutely
gorgeous.
I loved the old plantations and all the old houses that were falling
apart.
It felt like we had traveled back in time.
I wanted to stop to take
pictures and look at everything but the other girls were anxious to get there
so I was veto-ed.
Someday I will just have to go back and explore on my own I guess.
We arrived in PCB around four p.m. checked into our room and went to the ocean
to at least touch it.
Ashley and I were really worn out from the drive so we
opted out of going out that night
but Hallie and Kelli went out on the town.
Ash and I just crawled into bed and zonked out as heads hit the pillows.
Goodnight, Moon.
